Dr. Jules Arita Koostachin is an award-winning Cree filmmaker, writer, scholar, educator, producer, and public speaker from Attawapiskat First Nation in the MoshKeKoWok Territory. Grounded in the strength of her Cree IsKweWak ancestors and guided by Indigenous teachings, Jules has built a distinguished career across film, television, literature, academia, and community engagement. As a proud mother of four sons, she remains deeply committed to storytelling, relationship-building, and creating opportunities for future generations.
With more than two decades of experience in film, media arts, research, and education, Jules is recognized for her authentic voice, thoughtful leadership, and ability to connect with diverse audiences. She has delivered keynote addresses, moderated panel discussions, facilitated workshops, and presented at conferences, festivals, universities, community gatherings, and industry events throughout Canada and internationally.
